The Comedy Exposition is an independent comedy festival celebrating the best in local and national standup. Our team is composed entirely of comedians and producers of comedy shows, leveraging our collective experience from various festivals, our own shows, and our love for Chicago to create an exceptional experience for both festival attendees and performers.
Each day of the festival takes place in a different neighborhood, across multiple venues. This neighborhood-focused approach ensures that attendees can easily walk from show to show, maximizing their exposure to the diverse array of comedy talent. Every night features multiple showcases packed with comics from our submission process, including our favorite local headliners and surprise drop-ins from national headliners. The main event shows, held later in the evening, are stacked with multiple headliners, each performing an extended set.

Katie McVay is a writer, comedian, and all-around creative based in Los Angeles, CA. With over a decade of standup experience. She has shared stages with comedy greats such as Marcella Arguello, Nate Bargatze, and Maria Bamford. Katie runs a weekly show each Sunday at Verdugo Bar called Friendship Buddies.
Her talents extend beyond the stage; she has written and voice acted for TV shows like Bill Nye Saves the World and the Crunchyroll series High Guardian Spice.
She has also contributed to children’s science podcasts such as Smash Boom Best and Brains On, where she’s a fan favorite.
In the digital realm, Katie has run social media campaigns for niche brands, created videos for MTV News, and contributed to Sam Bee’s mobile game.
She also founded and organized a DIY comedy festival that ran from 2014 to 2016, showcasing her organizational skills. Her freelancing career includes providing copy and creative content for various corporate offices.
