Hey everyone, it’s me, Charlie! I just had to hop on here and tell you all about this amazing Gundam model kit I recently got my hands on. It’s the Bandai Hobby – Gundam The Origin – #26 RX-78-02 Gundam (The Origin Ver.), and let me tell you, it is a GAME CHANGER. First of all, it’s celebrating the 40th anniversary of GunPla, so you know it’s got some serious history behind it.
But that’s not even the best part. The actual model itself is incredible. The level of detail is insane – thanks to the latest injection molding techniques – and there are swappable parts so you can create either the Early or Mid timeline version of the RX-78-02. How cool is that? I personally love being able to switch things up and keep things interesting.
And let me just say, both versions are killer. The Early form has a shoulder Magnum (yes, you read that right), a Vulcan gun on its chest, an asymmetrical forearm mounted gatling gun (I mean, come on), and a rear mounted cannon. Meanwhile, the Mid form has symmetrical parts all over its body for its iconic appearance. Plus, it comes with Early and Mid beam rifles, a Hyper Bazooka AND Beam sabers? This thing is stacked.
